The two exercises I found the most beneficial are the breathing/visualization and Loving Kindness exercises. I can utilize the breathing techniques at work when I am feeling stressed. Take a few moments and just calm myself before moving on. The visualization exercises were fairly easy for me to do, and I feel very relaxed afterwards. The Loving Kindness exercise allows you to share these positive feelings with others. I can radiate these feelings to my family, coworkers and patients. By looking at the bright side, and focusing on the positive others tend to follow.

Shartyse,
ReplyDeleteThese meditations are my favorite as well, and for the same reasons. I find that these are easy to practice anywhere at any time of the day. I have even encouraged co-workers to practice the loving kindness meditation. In fact anytime office gossip or anger stirs up I will simply say "loving-kindness" and some of them redirect their emotions through practicing this meditation in that moment. Its actually funny because sometimes they will even stop themselves mid-sentence and say "loving-kindness" and abandon destructive conversations about others.
Shartyse,
ReplyDeleteI too chose Loving kindness as one of my favorite exercises. It is great the way you can use your own energy to help others. I was not very good at the visualization exercises but I know how the breathing techniques can be very helpful, especially at work.
